As a potential artist or designer we are interested in how you translate ideas visually for others. If you have some experience of art and design or you are applying for specialist or higher level courses, you should be able to assemble a portfolio, which demonstrates range, experience and potential.
We ask for a portfolio of work for all courses at the University College, with the exception of BA (Hons) Arts and Event Management, where experience and/or interest in the field of the arts needs to be shown. If you are unable to attend an interview and bring your portfolio with you we will ask you to submit a postal portfolio. (Students who are unable to attend for interview for the BA (Hons) Arts and Event Management course will be interviewed by Skype/telephone).
Applicants for the BA (Hons) Acting course who are able to attend the University College in person are asked to audition, whilst those who are unable to travel here are asked to submit their audition of a set script (for example 10 lines of Shakespeare plus a song) by video/DVD.
To find out what is needed for each course please refer to the Portfolio Guidelines section.
Sending your work digitally
If you are not attending a formal interview, but are sending your portfolio digitally it is important that your work is well labelled and presented in a clear way.
In order to process the application swiftly, please send the portfolio of work by email to international@aucb.ac.uk or upload your portfolio online to your website/blog or send it by using i.e. Flickr, Dropbox, WeTransfer etc.
PLEASE NOT THAT THE EMAIL NEEDS TO BE UNDER 9MB WITH ATTACHMENTS. If you email your portfolio, please send another email to us to check it has been received.
Sending your work by post
If you are not attending a formal interview, but are sending your portfolio by post on a CD it is important that your work is well labelled and presented in a clear way.
Background notes on each image should be written so that the person assessing your work can obtain a clear picture of your creative ideas and the range and level of work. (Please do not send original work as the University College cannot be held responsible for any loss).
Do not overlook the fact that we wish to find out about you as an individual. Show your personal interest in art or design and show your enthusiasm for the subject. Also, if relevant, show your breadth of study and research, but most of all show your best endeavours.
When you send your portfolio please ensure that it is securely packaged and clearly labelled with your name, reference number or UCAS number (if you have applied through the UCAS system).
Please send your work to:
The International Office
The Arts University College at Bournemouth
Wallisdown
Poole

If you would like to receive notification of its arrival please let us know when you send your work in.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RETURN PORTFOLIOS.
This is why we would thoroughly recommend that you send your work digitally or on CD if possible.
