Sally Hope
Sally is currently undertaking an MA course looking at how the traditions of type design have changed with the advent of new technologies and conceptual thinking feeding directly into the teaching programme. Sally has also given papers at Type + Birmingham 2008 and was panel member for the recent discussion at St Brides focusing on Typographic teaching. Sally also a member of International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) and is a panel member of the ISTD student awards scheme.
Dr Anna Middleton
Dr Anna Middleton maintains on-going research in preparation for academic conferences and exhibition organization in 2010/11. She delivered a paper; Interdisciplinary Investigations: The Intersection of Medical Science, Art practice and Art History in April 2009 at the Association of Art Historian’s Conference, Manchester Metropolitan University and has continued to work as freelance academic reader, most recently for Polity Press in November 2009. She has received funding from the Research Committee in order to produce research papers for publication relating to post-doctoral research and related, inter-disciplinary contexts from experimental typography; postmodernism and contemporary design practice to Understanding theory through practice projects.
Jo Donnelly
Technician Demonstrator Jo-Anne Donnelly graduated from Winchester School of Art, specialising in printed textiles and uses this expertise to guide students through projects offering specialist advice and input. Through staff development Jo-Anne has gained a thorough knowledge of print process and paper production.
Kit Johnson
Senior Associate Lecturer Kit Johnson undertook the Professional Graduate Certificate in Education HE (PGCE HE) delivered at AUCB in 2006-07 (graduated 2008), strengthening the FdA Visual Communication course team by enabling her to make a contribution to learning and teaching informed by understanding of current Higher Education pedagogy as well as extensive industry experience. During this time Kit developed a cooperative peer assisted learning (PAL) to enhance the 1st yr student experience. This led to two PAL Pilots delivered in 2008 and 2008-09, and then to its successful implementation on FdA Visual Communication and its inclusion in other courses.
Neil Leonard
Through undertaking research projects, alongside freelance web and print design work Neil has built a robust and practical understanding of contemporary design production, a deep understanding of modern technologies and related issues. This has affected the quality and integrity of his lecturing as the knowledge delivered is based in current design practice.
