Sarina Hosking
‘I first came to Glyndebourne Opera House for two weeks work experience in my second year, and was offered some work during my summer break of 2006. So far I’ve been here for three seasons, the first of which was in the ladies wear department, then I moved over to tailoring where I am currently employed. The standard of work here is so high, and attention to detail is very important. During my time in tailoring I’ve learnt so many different traditional and new techniques and approaches, I’ve covered anything from making military jackets and modern three piece suits to men dressed as women and cloaks which light up. Set out in the middle of the south downs, Glyndebourne is a truly inspirational and beautiful place to come to work.’
Jodie Gardner
2009 BA (Hons) Costume Alumnus Jodie Gardner has been working with Dorset based physical theatre company Angel Exit to design the costumes, set and puppetry for ‘Moonfleet’, a new production at Poole Lighthouse.
‘Moonfleet’ is inspired by the rugged landscape of the Dorset coastline and J Meade Falkner’s classic smuggling novel of the same name. The production features live music, striking physicality, storytelling and puppets. Jodie told me: ‘It was a great experience and helped me further my skills in theatre design.’
Jodie is also working with Open Stage Productions on their production of ‘Don’t Blame it on the Wolf’.
