Will I have to pay for the course?
Whether you pay tuition and exam registration fees will depend upon your age. You will be required to pay a small annual course material fee to cover the cost of the supplies you will use throughout the year.
You will not have to pay Tuition Fees if you are under 19 on 1st September of the year that your course commences.
For students over 19 the fee for courses commencing in 2012 will be £1700 (full-time) and £700 (part-time).
Material and registration fees for 2012/13 are as follows:

Are there any additional costs?
The resources used on arts, design or media courses are extensive and can be quite expensive. As with most specialist University Colleges, students on Preparation for Higher Education courses at the University College are required to contribute a small fee towards material costs.
Course Material Fees are as follows:
Extended Diploma in Art and Design – to be confirmed
Foundation Diploma in Art and Design/Media – to be confirmed
Diploma in Photography – to be confirmed
Is financial help available?
Student loans are not available for Preparation for Higher Education courses.
The Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) is a weekly payment worth up to £30 per week.
There are also bonuses of £100 if you remain on your course and make good progress with your learning. You may be entitled to an EMA if:
- You are aged 16-18 years old
- Your household income is £31,000 or below
- You are on a full-time course

The Learner Support Fund may be able to offer bursaries of up to £3,000 to help with living costs, transport, materials, etc.; these are assessed on family income.
