Research

Postgraduate research students registered for MPhil / PhD study for the first time in October 2011. This is an exciting new venture that builds upon our established excellence in undergraduate and Masters level study in the areas of art, design, media and performance. It also comes at a time when our research capacity has gained international recognition following the first submission of staff research to the Research Assessment Exercise (2008).

Currently we offer supervision to students wishing to pursue postgraduate research within or across the following discrete disciplines:

• Animation: history, theory and practice
• Fashion: history and theory, 19th century to the present
• Film: history and theory
• Fine Art: context and practice
• History of Art
• Photography: history, theory, practice
• Film: practice*
• Spatial practices: architectural and urban history, theory and practice*
