Short Evening Courses

Creative Writing 2

Place holder

Spring term:

  • COURSE FULL

Summer term:

  • Thursday 19th Apr – 21st June 2012

The Advanced course is aimed at students who want to continue working on their own fiction, whether it be short stories, life writing, novels of any genre, children’s fiction, plays or poetry.

During the course you will receive advice on how to arrange and expand your material, help in revising and editing your work as well as a chance to create new work that feeds into your manuscript.

You will have opportunities to build up your own repertoire by studying other writers’ strategies and the chance to have your writing read and discussed in a relaxed and comfortable environment. This will also be a supportive and safe environment to discuss creative ‘fears’ and blocks.

There will be opportunity to develop your own characters, pace, plot and story line, write authentic dialogue and make a setting come alive.

Exercises will be given that will free you from something that may be blocking your imagination and a kick start to stories that have been buzzing around your head for a long time.

The tutor will provide you with realistic deadlines to keep you working on your fiction throughout the week and will provide advice on time management. The emphasis will be on your personal writing journal as an invaluable tool for your writing.

What you will need to bring:

  • A notebook and pen
